Fire Scenes Contaminated with Asbestos
Most of us know that asbestos is harmful to our health. However did you know that it can be found in properties built or modified prior to 2000? Whilst it is whole and encapsulated within undamaged materials then it will not cause us any danger. Following a fire these materials can become damaged and broken up and this releases the asbestos fibres in to the air. We have been trained to work in scene contamination with white asbestos (chrysotile) and to understand the requirements for working with other types of asbestos. We have appropriate equipment and decontamination procedures to maintain the safety of those working within the scene and those they encounter after they have left the scene. If you have a fire scene you believe to have asbestos within it then contact us to discuss your requirements.
